How to Get to Ibri
Ibri is best reached from Muscat (Muscat International, MCT) by road; there is no passenger rail. Intercity buses (Mwasalat), private taxis and car hire are the practical options for the roughly several-hour drive west from Muscat.
Muscat International Airport (MCT): The main international gateway to Oman. To reach Ibri you will typically continue by road - there are no regular commercial flights directly into Ibri. Taxis from the airport to central Muscat run frequently; onward travel to Ibri is by bus or private car.
Salalah International Airport (SLL) / regional airports: These are not practical for reaching Ibri; Muscat is the standard arrival airport for international visitors bound for Ibri.
Train: Oman has no intercity passenger rail service in operation.
Bus / Intercity coach (Mwasalat): Mwasalat operates intercity bus services across Oman. Buses from Muscat to western governorates can be used to reach towns like Ibri - journeys are long (several hours) and schedules should be checked on Mwasalat’s website.
