How to Get Around Ibagué
Ibague9 is easiest to navigate with a mix of urban buses for budget trips and taxis for quick or late-night journeys; intercity buses connect the city to Colombia's major centres via the Terminal de Transportes. For short central journeys walk or cycle when possible-they're often faster than buses through traffic.
- Urban buses (busetas) (COP 2,200-3,000) - Local busetas and urban buses are the backbone of everyday travel inside Ibague9. Routes cover most neighbourhoods but can be slow in peak hours; have small change ready and ask drivers for the best line for your stop. Buses are the cheapest way to get around for longer intra-city trips.
- Intercity buses (COP 25,000-45,000) - Coaches run from the Terminal de Transportes de Ibague9 to major cities (Bogote1, Cali, Medelledn, Armenia). Services vary from standard to executive; overnight and daytime departures are frequent to Bogotá and regional hubs. - Taxis & radio taxis (COP 5,000-15,000) - Metered taxis are plentiful and are the quickest door-to-door option for short trips and at night. Short rentals are available from local shops and are ideal for parks, the riverfront and central neighbourhoods. Be cautious on busier roads and avoid steep outskirts without a bike lane.
- Walking - Downtown Ibague9 is compact and pleasant to explore on foot-museums, parks and many restaurants are within walking distance of the central plaza.
