How to Get to Ialysos#
Ialysos is served by Rhodes Diagoras Airport (RHO), a short drive from the resort area. The island has no rail links; public buses and taxis from the airport or Rhodes town are the simplest ways to reach Ialysos.
Rhodes Diagoras International (RHO): Rhodes (RHO) is the main airport serving Ialysos; it is about 7-10 km from Ialysos village/sea-front. Taxis from RHO take roughly 15-25 minutes and cost about €10-20 depending on time of day. Local buses (KTEL Rhodes) run from the airport toward Rhodes town and stop in Ialysos; fares are typically €1.60-€3 and the journey takes about 20-30 minutes.
Kos Island & Other Aegean Hubs: During high season some visitors arrive via nearby islands (ferry to Rhodes) or via seasonal flights to other Dodecanese airports; those routes require a ferry or additional transfer to get to Ialysos, adding 30-120+ minutes and variable costs.
Train: There are no rail connections on Rhodes island.
Bus: KTEL Rhodes operates the island’s intercity bus network. Regular buses link Rhodes town, the airport and Ialysos; single fares are small (around €1.60-3) and travel times are typically 20-30 minutes from the airport or Rhodes city, depending on traffic and exact stop.
How to Get Around Ialysos#
On Rhodes you’ll rely on buses, taxis or a hired vehicle - buses (KTEL) are cheap and usually adequate for short transfers, but renting a car or scooter gives freedom to reach quieter beaches and inland sites.
- KTEL bus (Rhodes) (€1.60-3) - KTEL runs frequent, inexpensive buses across Rhodes including stops in Ialysos. Buses are the cheapest option (coins or small change usually required) but can be crowded in summer. Timetables vary seasonally, so check the KTEL Rhodes schedule in advance.
- Taxi (€10-20) - Taxis are plentiful at the airport and in Rhodes town; they’re quick (about 15-25 minutes from RHO to Ialysos) and useful with luggage or late arrivals. Expect fares roughly €10-20 depending on meter and luggage.
