Hunter Island (British Columbia) Island

Hunter Island is a large, rugged island on the central coast of British Columbia, Canada, within the Great Bear Rainforest region. It is characterised by steep, forested terrain and a deeply indented coastline of inlets and bays.

The coastline and sheltered waters support marine and coastal wildlife and are used for boat-based recreation, wildlife viewing and remote wilderness trips. Visitors usually arrive by private boat or chartered floatplane from nearby coastal communities.

The island and surrounding waters are part of territories used by First Nations for centuries and have been included in modern conservation planning for the Central Coast. Development is minimal and much of the island remains in a natural state.

Hunter Island lies off the central British Columbia coast west of coastal communities along the Inside Passage and is reached via the coastal waterways of the central coast.
