The Hundertwasserhaus is a colorful, irregular residential building in Vienna designed by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser and completed in 1985. It is noted for its undulating floors, bright façade and integrated vegetation.
Conceived as a collaborative project between Hundertwasser and the city, it was built as a municipal residential project to combine social housing with artistic and ecological ideas. Since completion it has remained a functioning apartment building with ongoing maintenance to preserve the artist’s vision.
Located in Vienna’s Landstraße district, the building sits within easy walking distance of the city centre and other cultural attractions such as the Belvedere Palace.
