Humor Monastery

Humor Monastery is a small medieval monastery complex near Gura Humorului in Suceava County, northern Romania, notable for its painted exterior church frescoes. The surviving buildings date to the early 16th century.

The site is compact and centered on a single church with richly painted exterior panels depicting biblical cycles and the Last Judgment, executed in a distinctive palette including ochre and red. Visitors typically view the outer frescoes, the church interior and the small monastic precinct; the complex is often visited as part of tours of the painted monasteries of Moldavia.

The monastery was founded and constructed in the early 16th century and has been repaired and conserved at intervals since that time. Its exterior fresco program places it among the regional group of painted monasteries that combined religious function with exterior wall painting traditions.

Humor Monastery is located in Suceava County in northeastern Romania, a short distance from the town of Gura Humorului and the tourist routes that link the painted monastery sites of the region.
