Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is an urban state park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, preserving a coastal hammock and freshwater lagoon within the city. The park occupies a narrow tract of protected green space between the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and the barrier island road corridor.
Attractions include shaded walking trails, a freshwater lagoon used for small craft, picnic facilities and lawns for recreation; the park also contains a historic house associated with the park’s founder. It is popular for short nature walks, birdwatching and family outings close to Fort Lauderdale Beach.
The land that became the park came from the estate of Hugh Taylor Birch and has since been managed as a public park to maintain urban green space and protect the coastal hammock ecosystem.
The park lies within the city of Fort Lauderdale on Florida’s southeast Atlantic coast, directly adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway and close to Fort Lauderdale Beach.
