HMS Warrior (1860)

HMS Warrior is a 19th-century Royal Navy warship launched in 1860 that combined an iron hull with armoured plating and steam propulsion. The vessel is preserved as a museum ship and is berthed in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on England’s south coast.

As a museum ship the Warrior offers public access to several decks and internal spaces, including exhibits on naval engineering, the transition from sail to steam, and life aboard a mid-19th-century warship. The ship is interpreted with displays and guided routes for visitors.

Built in response to changing naval technology in the mid-19th century, Warrior was launched in 1860 and served in the Royal Navy before later civilian and preservation roles. It was rescued and restored in the 20th and early 21st centuries to preserve its historical significance.
