HMS Victory

HMS Victory is an 18th-century Royal Navy first-rate ship of the line, launched in 1765 and renowned as Admiral Lord Nelson’s flagship at the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar. The vessel is preserved as a museum ship at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and is one of the best-known surviving warships of the Age of Sail.

The ship is displayed in dry dock with internal access for visitors to spaces such as the gun deck, captain’s cabin, and quarterdeck, where exhibits interpret naval life, the Battle of Trafalgar, and Nelson’s career. Ongoing conservation work is a major feature of the site, balancing public access with the needs of a historic wooden warship.
