How to Get to Hjálparfoss
From the Ring Road (Route 1) take Road 26 east of Selfoss and follow minor roads toward Þjórsárdalur; Hjálparfoss is signposted and reachable by car with a short walk from the parking area.
Tips for Visiting Hjálparfoss
- Arrive early in summer-the main waterfall viewpoints are exposed and can be hot midday.
- Combine a visit with Þjórsárdalur valley hikes or a stop at the nearby reconstruction of the medieval farmstead, Þjóðveldisbærinn.
- If driving the ring road, follow road 32 and then the minor turn-offs toward Háifoss/Hjálparfoss; the gravel tracks can be rough.
