Hiran Minar

Hiran Minar is an early 17th-century Mughal monument and leisure complex near Sheikhupura in Punjab, Pakistan, erected during the reign of Emperor Jahangir. The complex combines a tall commemorative tower with a large water tank and a pleasure pavilion set within a formal layout.

The site’s principal elements are the central minar and the surrounding artificial reservoir with an island pavilion reachable by a causeway. The complex was created as part of Mughal landscape architecture and courtly hunting and leisure infrastructure.

Historically the monument is associated with Jahangir and is commonly described as a memorial related to royal hunting and the emperor’s patronage of garden and water features. The surviving layout preserves the basic plan and several original masonry features.

Hiran Minar lies near the town of Sheikhupura in Punjab, approximately 35 kilometres northwest of Lahore, and is accessed from local road networks in the district.
