The Hindu Raj is a mountain range in northern Pakistan, lying between the Hindu Kush to the west and the Karakoram to the east, within the broader Hindu Kush-Karakoram region. It comprises numerous rugged peaks and glaciated valleys.

The range includes several peaks above 6,000 metres and attracts mountaineers and high‑altitude trekkers for remote alpine routes and expeditions. Access is typically from the nearby highland districts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, with approaches involving long valley roads and river crossings.

The Hindu Raj sits in a sparsely populated mountain area of Gilgit-Baltistan and adjacent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, characterized by steep relief, glaciers and high passes. Towns used as gateways include settlements in the Chitral and Ghizer regions.

High peaks and climbing: Contains multiple peaks exceeding 6,000 metres and is a destination for technical mountaineering rather than mass tourism.

Plan visits in the high season (roughly June-September) when mountain passes and trails are most likely to be passable and weather is more stable; winter routes will be snowbound and hazardous.
Hire a local guide from Gilgit or Chitral for overland approaches and trekking logistics - roads in Hindu Raj are frequently rough and conditions change quickly, so local knowledge is essential.
Allow extra travel time and build in acclimatization days when moving from lower valleys into higher passes; many worthwhile viewpoints and villages lie off slower, unpaved roads.
