How to Get to Hida Mountains #
Major access points are Takayama and Matsumoto. From Tokyo, take the JR Tokaido/Sanyo shinkansen then local lines to these towns (roughly 4-5 hours). From Takayama or Matsumoto, local buses serve trailheads into the Northern Alps; private transfers shorten approach times.
