Herzogenhorn

Herzogenhorn is a mountain in the Black Forest of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, with a summit elevation of 1,415 meters. It is one of the prominent peaks of the southern Black Forest and is popular for outdoor recreation.

The peak is crossed by regional long-distance trails and offers panoramic views; the area supports marked hiking routes, winter ski touring and cross-country tracks. The summit area includes alpine pastures and routes used by day hikers and multi-day trekkers.

The mountain has been part of the region’s mountain-recreation network since the growth of Alpine tourism in the 19th and 20th centuries and is managed within the Southern Black Forest natural area.

Herzogenhorn sits south of the upper Rhine valley in the Black Forest, in the vicinity of Todtnau and the municipality of Bernau, within Baden-Württemberg. The nearest regional city is Freiburg im Breisgau to the northwest.
