Helnæs
Island Peninsula on Funen with lighthouse and beaches
Peninsula on southern Funen with beaches, dunes and fishing villages; visitors come for seaside walks, windsurfing and local seafood.
Helnæs is a low-lying coastal peninsula on the southwestern shore of the island of Funen (Fyn) in South Denmark. It is a rural area of fields, small settlements and shoreline facing the surrounding Danish waters.
The area is used for coastal walking, beach access and local recreation along shallow bays and beaches. Landscape highlights include open farmland, small harbors and sandy or stony shorelines popular with local visitors.
Historically the peninsula has been shaped by farming, fishing and small-village settlement; its built environment and land use reflect long-standing rural coastal use. There are no major urban centres on the peninsula and change over time has been gradual, dominated by agriculture and low-density housing.
Helnæs sits on Funen’s southwestern coast projecting into the surrounding Danish littoral. The nearest larger island is central Funen; the peninsula is accessed by local roads from the Funen hinterland.
