Helliwell Provincial Park is a provincial park located on Hornby Island in British Columbia. The park conserves shoreline, coastal forest and characteristic Gulf Islands ecosystems.
A widely used short coastal trail leads to a headland with open ocean views and exposure to coastal winds; the park is noted for Arbutus and Garry oak trees and for shoreline access. People visit for walking, birdwatching, and enjoying Gulf Islands coastal scenery.
The area was set aside as provincial parkland to protect representative shoreline and island ecosystems and to provide public access to the island’s coastal landscape. Management focuses on conservation of sensitive plant communities.
The park is on the northeastern tip of Hornby Island in the Strait of Georgia, off the east coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Hornby Island is reached by ferry from Vancouver Island and Helliwell lies close to the island’s northern shoreline.
