Cliff Coastal cliff formation on Bornholm, scenic sea views
Coastal cliff formation on Bornholm near Gudhjem with jagged granite ledges, short coastal trails and viewpoints popular with walkers and photographers.
Helligdomsklipperne is a rocky coastal cliff complex on the northeastern coast of the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. It is noted for its exposed granite cliffs and sea stacks that form a rugged shoreline near the town of Gudhjem.
The site offers coastal walking paths and close-up views of the cliffs and sea stacks, with opportunities for photography and seabird observation. The shoreline and paths give a sequence of viewpoints along several hundred metres of exposed rock where the cliffs meet the sea.
The rock is Bornholm granite shaped by long-term marine and glacial erosion rather than human construction. The cliffs are a natural coastal feature rather than a built landmark.
The cliffs sit on the northeast shore of Bornholm, close to the harbour town of Gudhjem and within easy reach by road and coastal trails from nearby settlements on the island.
- Access: Coastal footpath access from nearby towns provides the simplest viewpoint for photos and sea-bird watching.
- Best time to visit: Best visited in clear, calm weather when sea stacks and coastal rock formations are most visible from the shore.
