The Helix Bridge is a pedestrian bridge at Marina Bay in Singapore, opened in 2010. Its design uses a double-helix stainless-steel structure and it links the Marina Centre area with the Marina Bay Sands precinct.

Conceived as part of the Marina Bay waterfront development, the bridge was completed and opened to the public in 2010 to improve pedestrian connections and to serve as an architectural landmark for the bay area.

Sited on the east side of central Singapore’s Marina Bay, it connects the Marina Centre pedestrian precinct with the promenade beside Marina Bay Sands and the bayfront.

Design and dimensions: Opened in 2010, the bridge is approximately 280 metres long and uses a double-helix stainless-steel structure inspired by DNA.
Lighting and visitor experience: The bridge is illuminated at night with LED lighting and includes sheltered sections and seating on the viewing platforms, making it popular for evening walks and city views.

How to Get to Helix Bridge #

The Helix Bridge is on the Marina Bay waterfront in central Singapore. The nearest MRT is Bayfront station (Circle Line and Downtown Line); from Bayfront station it’s about a 5-10 minute walk onto the promenade and across the bridge toward Marina Bay Sands and the Marina Centre. Driving is possible via Republic Boulevard/Raffles Avenue with nearby paid parking at Marina Bay Sands and surrounding complexes.

Tips for Visiting Helix Bridge #

Visit at dusk or after dark to see the Helix Bridge's LED lighting and skyline reflections at Marina Bay when pedestrian traffic is lower than at sunset.
Use Bayfront MRT (Marina Bay Sands/Bayfront exits) or the Marina Bay promenade access points to join the bridge directly; approaching from the Marina Bay Sands side avoids the longest pedestrian queues.
For uninterrupted photos and a quieter experience, stay on the bridge past the main viewing span toward the smaller alcoves/benches rather than clustering at the central spiral - those mid‑span viewing points are less crowded.
