The Hazratbal Shrine is an important Muslim shrine and mosque complex in Srinagar, in the Kashmir Valley, situated on the northern shore of Dal Lake.
The shrine is best known for preserving and displaying a relic revered by many Kashmiri Muslims and functions as a major local pilgrimage site and place of worship.
The shrine’s origins date to the early modern period and the present complex has been rebuilt and renovated at various times; it remains a central religious institution for Srinagar’s Muslim community.
Geographically it sits beside Dal Lake within Srinagar city and is accessible from the city’s central areas.
