Havránok

Havránok is an archaeological hilltop site in northern Slovakia notable for remains of a Celtic hillfort and later occupation phases. It is presented today as an open-air monument with archaeological displays and reconstructions.

The main on-site highlight is a reconstructed wooden sanctuary built where archaeologists found ritual pits and postholes; the visitor area includes interpretive panels and finds from the excavations. The site illustrates Iron Age ritual practice associated with the La Tène culture and later local settlement phases.

Archaeological work in the 20th century uncovered timber structures, burning deposits and artefacts that identified the site as an important regional ritual and settlement place in the late Iron Age; subsequent conservation and reconstruction created the present open-air exhibits.

Havránok is located in the Žilina Region near the Liptovská Mara reservoir and the Liptov basin area in northern Slovakia, within reach of the town of Liptovský Mikuláš and regional roads.
