Hammat Tiberias is an archaeological site on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee near the modern city of Tiberias, noted for remains of ancient thermal baths and associated buildings dating to the Roman and Byzantine periods.
The baths were built and used during the Roman and Byzantine eras, taking advantage of local hot springs that supplied heated water and bathing pools. Excavations in the 20th century uncovered mosaics and structural remains that document the site’s occupation and use as a bathing center.
The park sits immediately northwest of the modern city of Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee’s western shore in northern Israel, within easy reach of urban transport and visitor facilities in Tiberias.
