Habichtswald Nature Park is a protected area in Hesse encompassing parts of the Habichtswald low mountain range west and northwest of the city of Kassel. The park consists chiefly of forested hills, ridgelines and valley landscapes.
Visitors use waymarked trails and forest roads for hiking, cycling and nature observation, with viewpoints on higher ground offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The area includes a mix of beech and mixed woodland typical of central Germany.
The nature park was designated to conserve the Habichtswald’s forested landscapes and to provide regulated public access for recreation and education. It forms part of the regional network of protected areas around Kassel.
Geographically the park lies immediately west and northwest of Kassel in northern Hesse, forming a wooded backdrop to the city and extending across low mountain terrain.

The Habichtswald lies immediately north and west of Kassel.
