Gunung Ledang National Park

Gunung Ledang National Park in Johor, Malaysia, protects Mount Ledang, the state’s highest mountain at 1,276 metres. The park is a regional landmark for hiking, rainforest, and waterfalls.

Hikers and nature visitors use established trails that climb through lowland dipterocarp forest to montane vegetation on the upper slopes, with the summit offering panoramic views on clear days. Lower slopes contain waterfalls and picnic or camping spots, and common access points are the Sagil and Tangkak areas.

The mountain features prominently in Malay folklore, especially the legend of Puteri Gunung Ledang, and the area has long been valued locally for its natural resources and cultural associations. The site was designated and managed as a protected area to conserve its forest, watershed and recreational values.

The park is located in northwestern Johor, near the town of Tangkak and close to the Johor-Malacca state border. Road access from Johor Bahru and other regional centres leads to trailheads at Sagil and nearby villages.
