About Gorumna

Gorumna is an island off the west coast of County Galway in Connacht, Ireland, and forms part of the Connemara island group. It is a coastal community defined by rocky shorelines and small settlements.

The island offers coastal scenery and views across the Atlantic and nearby Connemara islands. Activities are mainly local-scale - walking along shorelines and observing maritime landscapes.

Human habitation on the island dates back many centuries as part of the settled Connemara coast; ownership and local land use have followed regional Irish rural patterns. There are no widely known large-scale historical structures on the island.

Gorumna sits off the Connemara coast of western County Galway, within the Atlantic archipelago west of the Irish mainland. The nearest larger centres on the mainland are towns on the Connemara coast of County Galway.
