Gorski Kotar is a mountainous region between Rijeka and Karlovac in western Croatia and is best reached by road. The A6 motorway (Zagreb-Rijeka) provides the main motor-vehicle access; take exits toward Delnice or Ravna Gora to enter the Gorski Kotar area.
Rijeka is the nearest major city on the Adriatic coast - driving from Rijeka into central parts of Gorski Kotar typically takes around 30-60 minutes depending on the destination within the region. Local state roads connect villages and hiking trailheads; public buses link Rijeka with larger towns such as Delnice.
