Golyam Perelik is the highest peak of the Rhodope Mountains in southern Bulgaria and a primary landmark in Smolyan Province with an elevation of approximately 2,191 m.
Hikers and mountaineers use routes from nearby villages to reach the summit, which provides broad views across the Rhodopes and toward neighbouring mountain ranges. The summit area includes a prominent communications installation that is visible from surrounding high ground.
The summit area was developed in the 20th century for telecommunications and meteorological facilities and has at times been subject to restricted access for operational reasons. The mountain’s status as the Rhodopes’ highest point has made it a target for recreational ascent.
Situated in Smolyan Province in southern Bulgaria, the peak lies within the Rhodope massif and is accessed from mountain roads and trails that link to nearby villages and towns in the region.
