How to Get to Gogounou
Gogounou (Alibori Department) is in northeastern Benin and is reached almost exclusively by road. Fly into Cotonou (COO) and prepare for a long overland journey by intercity bus or bush taxi, sometimes with connections in Parakou or other regional towns.
Cadjehoun Airport / Cotonou (COO): Cotonou is the main international airport used to reach southern and central parts of Benin. From Cotonou you must continue by road - either private car hire or intercity bus - to reach Gogounou in Alibori Department; the overland trip is long (several hours to a full day) and often requires connections.
Niamey / regional airfields: There are limited regional airfields in northern Benin and neighbouring countries, but scheduled services to Gogounou itself do not exist; most travellers rely on road transport from Cotonou or cross‑border entry points.
Train: Benin has no intercity passenger rail network that serves Gogounou; rail is not a practical option.
