Gods Lake

Gods Lake is a large freshwater lake in northeastern Manitoba, Canada, forming part of a broader river and lake system in the region and associated with local Indigenous communities.

The lake and its shoreline areas are used for fisheries, hunting and outdoor access by local communities and visitors; the area is remote and characterised by boreal forest and waterborne transport. Small settlements and seasonal camps are located on or near the lake and provide the primary points of access.

The lake lies within territory long used by Indigenous peoples of the region and has been a focus for subsistence activities and later transport routes; modern settlements such as Gods Lake Narrows developed as local hubs on the lake.

Located in northeastern Manitoba, the lake is in a remote boreal landscape and is reached primarily by water or by regional roads and air services that serve local communities.
