Glasgow Science Centre
Palace Interactive science museum on the River Clyde
A riverside science centre on the Clyde offering hands‑on exhibits, a planetarium and an IMAX theatre; popular with families and school groups for interactive displays about technology, energy and space.
The Glasgow Science Centre is a major science and discovery centre on the south bank of the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland, opened in 2001. It is a visitor attraction focused on public science education and hands-on exhibits.
Exhibits are concentrated in a multi-level science mall with interactive displays covering physics, technology, health and the environment, aimed at families and school groups. The site includes an IMAX cinema and an adjacent free-standing tower used for observation and demonstrations; the tower reaches 127 metres in height.
Developed as part of the regeneration of the Clyde waterfront, the centre opened in 2001 and was designed to provide science outreach, education programmes and temporary exhibitions. The tower and museum complex were built to anchor the Pacific Quay redevelopment and to offer public engagement with science.
Sited at Pacific Quay on the south bank of the River Clyde, the centre sits west of Glasgow city centre near the SEC complex and the BBC Scotland studios, with easy road and public-transport links into the city.
- Glasgow Tower: 127 metres tall and was completed with the centre; recognised as a very tall freely rotating observation tower.
