How to Get to Ghanzi#
Ghanzi is in western Botswana and is normally reached by road from Gaborone or via regional coach services; there is no major commercial airport with frequent scheduled service directly to Ghanzi. Expect long overland transfers.
Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (GBE): Gaborone is the main international arrival point for western Botswana. Travel from Gaborone to Ghanzi is by road (roughly 4-5 hours depending on route); coaches and private hires are the typical options.
Maun Airport (MUB): Maun serves northern safari areas and is not a practical arrival point for Ghanzi; road transfer from Maun to Ghanzi is lengthy and uncommon as a planned route.
Train: Botswana Railways does not provide passenger rail service to Ghanzi; rail is not a practical option.

- Private vehicle / 4x4 hire ((Varies widely)) - Hiring a private vehicle or 4x4 is common for visitors to Ghanzi, especially if planning to explore the Kalahari and community‑run reserves. It offers flexibility to visit remote farms and lodges but adds fuel and driver costs.
- Local minibuses & taxis (Low) - Shared minibuses and local taxis serve Ghanzi town and nearby settlements. They are low‑cost but operate on informal timetables-ask locally for departure points and times.
- Bicycle / motorcycle taxi (Low) - For very short distances in town, motorcycles and bicycles are practical; road shoulders can be narrow and dusty, so ride carefully and avoid during the heat of the day.
