How to Get to Geumsan County#
Geumsan County is most conveniently reached via Daejeon as the regional transport hub: fly into Cheongju or Seoul then use KTX or intercity bus to Daejeon and a short regional bus on to Geumsan. Road transfers complete the final leg.
Cheongju International Airport (CJJ): Cheongju is one of the nearer airports to Geumsan County; from Cheongju you can continue by intercity bus or hire a taxi to reach Geumsan (journey ~1-1.5 hours).
Gimpo (GMP) / Incheon (ICN): If arriving internationally, fly to Seoul (GMP or ICN) and use Korea’s rail network (KTX/SRT) or buses to Daejeon; from Daejeon take a regional bus to Geumsan (Daejeon→Geumsan ~40-60 minutes).
Train: Take KTX from Seoul (Seoul Station) to Daejeon (journey ~50 minutes to 1 hour), then a regional intercity or express bus from Daejeon to Geumsan (about 40-60 minutes). Daejeon is the main rail hub for the area.
Bus: Intercity buses run from Daejeon or nearby cities directly to Geumsan County; local buses cover towns within Geumsan for last-mile travel. Bus terminals in Daejeon and nearby cities have regular departures.
How to Get Around Geumsan County#
Use Daejeon as your regional hub: KTX or bus to Daejeon, then a short regional bus or taxi to Geumsan. For flexibility, a taxi or private transfer from Daejeon is easiest; buses are cheaper and commonly used.
- KTX to Daejeon + regional bus (KRW 10,000-40,000 (depends on class and route)) - High-speed KTX from Seoul to Daejeon is fast and reliable; transfer to a regional bus at Daejeon bus terminal for Geumsan (about 40-60 minutes). This is the best combination for speed and comfort when coming from Seoul or Incheon.
- Domestic flight to Cheongju (CJJ) + taxi/bus (KRW 30,000-80,000 (flight) + local transfer) - Cheongju provides another regional air option with onward bus or taxi to Geumsan. Flights connect from Seoul/Gimpo and some domestic routes; onward ground transfers are necessary but relatively short.
- Intercity bus (KRW 4,000-10,000) - Direct intercity buses run from Daejeon and other nearby cities to Geumsan; they are frequent and affordable. Bus terminals are well-equipped and buses are comfortable for the short regional hop.
- Taxi / private transfer (KRW 40,000-100,000+) - Taxis are plentiful for regional transfers, useful for early/late arrivals or when you have luggage. Fares are higher than buses but offer door-to-door convenience.
- Local bus / community transit (KRW 1,200-3,000) - Geumsan County is served by local buses connecting villages and town centers; schedules can be limited on weekends. Local buses are the cheapest option for intra-county travel but require itinerary planning.
- Walking - Within Geumsan’s towns the centre areas are walkable; for rural sites and ginseng farms you will need a vehicle. Walking is pleasant for short local exploration.
