Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue

The Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue is a large steel monument on the Mongolian steppe near Tsonjīn Boldog, east of Ulaanbaatar, erected as a modern commemorative landmark. It is notable for its height and the visitor viewpoint incorporated into the structure.

The monument comprises a towering equestrian figure mounted on a visitor centre plinth; an internal lift reaches a viewing platform in the statue that provides panoramic views across the surrounding plain. The complex also includes exhibition space and amenities for visitors.

The statue was constructed in the 21st century as a national commemoration and tourist destination celebrating the historical figure of Genghis Khan and Mongolian equestrian heritage. It functions as both a monument and an interpretation centre.

The site is located on the steppe east of Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar, at Tsonjīn Boldog, within a relatively open agricultural and grassland landscape and accessible by road from the city.
