Gavarres Mountains

Les Gavarres is a low mountain massif in Catalonia, located in the province of Girona and forming part of the Costa Brava hinterland. It is characterized by Mediterranean forest and a rural landscape of farmsteads and tracks.

The area is used for hiking, mountain biking and nature outings on a network of trails and rural roads that link small villages and masias. Vegetation is typically Mediterranean scrub and woodland adapted to the local climate.

Human presence in the massif is long-standing and mainly rural, with historic farmhouses and agricultural land scattered through the hills. Land use today combines forestry, agriculture and recreation.

Geographically it lies west of the coastal Costa Brava and north of the central Catalonia plain, within easy reach of the city of Girona and coastal towns.
