How to Get to Garanhuns
Garanhuns in Pernambuco is reached primarily by intercity bus or private transfer from Recife (REC) and other regional centres. There's no passenger rail service, so road travel is the standard arrival and onward option.
Recife/Guararapes-Gilberto Freyre International Airport (REC): Recife is the main regional airport for Garanhuns and the wider Agreste region. From REC to Garanhuns the road trip is around 2.5-4 hours depending on route and traffic; long-distance buses and private transfers run from Recife to Garanhuns. Private transfers are faster but costlier; standard intercity bus services are economical and frequent.
Caruaru / Petrolina (regional options): There are smaller regional aerodromes and airports across Pernambuco, but Recife is the most practical international gateway for Garanhuns; check routes and schedules if using domestic-only options.
