How to Get to Gaoping, Nanchong

Gaoping is served locally by Nanchong Gaoping Airport (NAO) and by regional rail via Nanchong's railway stations (南充站 / 南充北站). For international or long-haul arrivals, Chengdu's airports (Shuangliu CTU, Tianfu TFU) are the main gateways; transfer onward by high-speed train or coach to Nanchong.

By Air

Nanchong Gaoping Airport (NAO): Nanchong Gaoping is the closest airport, about 20-30 km from Gaoping district centre. From NAO you can take an airport shuttle bus to downtown Nanchong (typical fare ¥15-25, journey ~30-50 minutes depending on traffic) or a taxi (roughly ¥60-120, ~30-50 minutes). Taxis are the quickest door-to-door option; check for airport surcharges.

Chengdu Shuangliu / Tianfu (CTU / TFU): For international or many domestic flights you’ll likely arrive at Chengdu Shuangliu or the newer Tianfu Airport. From either Chengdu airport take the airport metro/airport bus into Chengdu (fares around ¥7-20, 30-60 minutes), then transfer to high-speed trains from Chengdu East/Chengdu South to Nanchong (see Train section). Door-to-door by taxi from Chengdu airports to Nanchong is possible but long and expensive (several hundred yuan); faster and more economical is metro/airport bus + high-speed train.

By Train & Bus

Train: Nanchong is served by Nanchong Railway Station (南充站) and the high-speed Nanchong North (南充北站). High-speed services connect Nanchong with Chengdu and Chongqing; typical high-speed travel to Chengdu is around 1.5-2.5 hours with second-class fares commonly in the range ¥70-150 depending on train type and advance booking. Trains are the most reliable and comfortable way to reach Nanchong from other Sichuan cities.

Bus: Long-distance coaches run from major hubs (Chengdu long‑distance bus stations, Chongqing) to Nanchong; journeys to Chengdu generally take about 3-4 hours with fares typically ¥40-80. Within Nanchong (and Gaoping district) local city buses serve most neighbourhoods with single fares around ¥1-2; intercity coaches drop at the main coach station from where local buses or taxis complete the journey.

How to Get Around Gaoping, Nanchong

Gaoping is best navigated by a mix of local buses and taxis/Didi for convenience; high‑speed trains are the smartest choice for regional travel to Chengdu and Chongqing. Walking and bike‑share work well for short local trips, while intercity coaches fill gaps where train schedules are limited.
