The Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) in Glasgow is a municipal art gallery focused on modern and contemporary work, housed in a prominent neoclassical building on Royal Exchange Square. It is one of the city’s principal public art venues.

Exhibitions showcase 20th- and 21st-century works from regional, national and international artists, with a programme of temporary shows, commissions and educational events. The gallery’s central location places it amid other cultural institutions and civic landmarks, and the building itself is an architectural attraction. Public events, talks and family activities supplement the display galleries.

The building originally served as a commercial exchange and was repurposed as a public art gallery in the late 20th century to create a modern art institution for the city. Since then it has hosted rotating exhibitions and community programmes.

Sited on Royal Exchange Square in central Glasgow, the gallery is within the city’s pedestrianised core and is a short walk from Glasgow Central and Queen Street stations.

  • Location and building: The gallery occupies a landmark neoclassical building at Royal Exchange Square and is a central part of Glasgow's cultural quarter.
