Gadeokdo is an island off the southwestern coast of Busan, South Korea. It is part of Busan municipality and has been integrated into the city’s transport network through bridge and road connections.

The island contains small coastal settlements, agricultural land and beaches rather than major tourist attractions. It is used mainly for local fishing, farming and low-density residential areas rather than mass tourism.

Historically an agricultural and fishing community, the island has become more accessible in recent decades as transport links to Busan were improved. There are no widely known ancient monuments or major historic structures on the island.

Gadeokdo sits off the southwest coast of the Korean Peninsula in the coastal waters adjacent to Busan, about 25 to 30 kilometres from central Busan.

• Distance: Located roughly 25 to 30 kilometres southwest of Busan city centre, making it the nearest sizeable island within Busan municipality.
• Access: Connected to the mainland by road bridges and modern transport links, so vehicle access is possible without relying solely on ferries.

Accessible by road via the Gadeokdo Bridge from Busan; local buses and taxis serve principal settlements. Allow 30-60 minutes from central Busan depending on traffic.

• Use the Gadeokdo Bridge for scenic views and plan transport from Busan city via bus routes to the island's main settlements.
• Visit small fishing villages to sample seafood and to see local island life, but be mindful that some areas are industrial or under development.
• Check local timetables if aiming to cross to small peninsulas - bus connections are more reliable than private taxis.
