Fundy National Park protects coastal forest, river valleys and shoreline along the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick and is notable for the region’s exceptionally high tidal ranges of up to about 16 metres. The park combines coastal and inland recreational opportunities.
Trail networks, campgrounds, coastal lookouts and interpretive facilities focus on the bay’s tidal phenomena, tidal pools and forested river valleys. Activities include guided tidal walks, kayaking in sheltered areas and inland hiking on marked trails.
Established to conserve Fundy’s unique coastal ecosystems and to provide outdoor recreation opportunities, the park’s facilities and trail networks were developed in the 20th century to support both day visitors and longer backcountry itineraries.
Located on New Brunswick’s Fundy coast, the park’s main access point is the village of Alma, which functions as the primary service gateway for visitors.
