Fukuoka Tower is a 234-metre observation tower on the waterfront of Fukuoka city in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, completed in 1989. It is one of the city’s most prominent modern landmarks and the tallest seaside tower in Japan.
The tower has an observation area near its top offering 360-degree views across Hakata Bay, the Fukuoka urban area, and out to the Genkai Sea. Visitors commonly go for panoramic daytime views, sunset vistas, and city-night illumination.
Construction finished in 1989 as part of waterfront redevelopment for public recreation and events. The tower’s stainless-steel-clad structure and tall profile have made it a local symbol since opening.
The tower stands on the Momochihama waterfront of Fukuoka city, adjacent to Momochi Seaside Park and close to the Fukuoka (PayPay) Dome and urban amenities. It is within the city limits of Fukuoka.

Fukuoka Tower is in the Momochihama area on the city’s western waterfront. From Tenjin Station take the Nishitetsu bus toward Momochihama or a taxi (about 15-20 minutes). The nearest subway stop is Nishijin on the Kūkō Line, followed by a 15-20 minute walk or a short bus ride.
