Fruška Gora National Park

Fruška Gora National Park is a protected mountain ridge in the Vojvodina region of northern Serbia, designated as a national park in 1960. It is known for its forested slopes and a dense concentration of Serbian Orthodox monasteries from the late medieval period.

Many visitors move between forest trails, viewpoints and the historic monasteries dotted along the ridge; the park is popular for day hikes and cycling across its upland tracks. The site contains roughly sixteen medieval monastic foundations, several of which preserve frescoes, church architecture and functioning communities.

The slope settlements and monastic foundations were established from the medieval period onward and many monasteries were rebuilt or refurbished between the 15th and 18th centuries. The area was set aside as a national park in the mid-20th century to protect its forests and cultural monuments.

Fruška Gora occupies a compact ridge in the Syrmia (Srem) area of Vojvodina, between the Danube and Sava river basins, near the city of Novi Sad in northern Serbia.
