The Frida Kahlo Museum, commonly known as Casa Azul, is the former home and studio of artist Frida Kahlo, located in the Coyoacán district of Mexico City. The house preserves Kahlo’s personal belongings, works of art and the domestic spaces where she lived and worked.
Kahlo’s studio, personal objects, garments and a selection of her paintings alongside related works by Diego Rivera and contemporaries. The small layout and popular subject matter make visits concentrated and often scheduled by time slot.
The house was converted into a public museum in the mid-20th century to preserve the artist’s legacy and to display personal and artistic collections to the public. Management maintains the building and displays to reflect the domestic setting of Kahlo’s life.
