Fortuny Museum

Fortuny Museum is a small museum in Venice dedicated to the work and legacy of designer and artist Mariano Fortuny, housed in the historic Palazzo Pesaro degli Orfei. The site is notable for keeping parts of Fortuny’s studio and displays of his textile, costume and graphic work.

Exhibits concentrate on Fortuny’s textiles, fashion designs and related objects, often shown alongside rotating temporary displays. The museum’s scale is modest compared with Venice’s larger institutions, so circulation is generally through a sequence of intimate rooms rather than large galleries.

Mariano Fortuny lived and worked in the palazzo in the early 20th century and the building was preserved to retain studio layouts and some original furnishings. Over time the palazzo has been adapted to museum use while conserving Fortuny’s workshop character.

The museum sits on the Grand Canal in Venice’s historic core, within walking distance of central San Marco and other major Venetian sites. The setting is urban with canal frontage and narrow surrounding streets.
