Fløyen

Fløien (Fløien) is a 320-metre hill immediately above Bergen in Vestland, Norway, and is one of the city’s principal vantage points. It is a well-known recreational area for both locals and tourists.

A short ride on the historic Fløibanen funicular delivers visitors close to the summit, where panoramic viewpoints, short hiking trails and children’s facilities are concentrated. The summit area provides clear views across Bergen’s harbour, the city centre and surrounding islands.

The funicular opened in the early 20th century and the mountain has long been used for outdoor recreation, skiing and walking by Bergen residents; infrastructure has been developed to support year-round visitor access.

Fløien sits directly above Bergen’s city centre and is part of the city’s Seven Mountains ring, making it accessible on foot from the downtown area as well as by the funicular.
