Flores Island (British Columbia)

Flores Island is an island in Clayoquot Sound off the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. It is part of the traditional territory of the Nuu-chah-nulth peoples and hosts a permanent Indigenous community.

Flores Island has been occupied and used for millennia by Nuu-chah-nulth peoples; modern settlements such as Marktosis reflect those continuing communities and governance. European contact and later Canadian administration changed land use and access but the island remains culturally important to the Ahousaht.

Located in Clayoquot Sound off the central west coast of Vancouver Island; the island is typically accessed by boat from Tofino and other coastal communities on Vancouver Island.
