Fitzroy Harbour

Fitzroy Harbour is a small riverside village in western Ottawa, Ontario, located on the Ottawa River and functioning as a local centre for recreational access to the river. It is a compact community with a primarily residential and rural character.

The area offers boating, fishing and shoreline access along the Ottawa River, as well as nearby trails and seasonal wildlife viewing; facilities are modest and oriented to local use rather than large-scale tourism.

The village developed as part of 19th century settlement in the historic Fitzroy Township and has remained a small rural community while later becoming administratively part of the City of Ottawa. Its character has stayed largely residential with recreation tied to the river.

Geographically it sits on the north bank of the Ottawa River in Ottawa’s western rural area, roughly 35 kilometres west of downtown Ottawa and accessible by regional roads from the Ottawa urban area.
