Findhorn Foundation

The Findhorn Foundation is an intentional community and education centre near the village of Findhorn on the coast of the Moray Firth in northeastern Scotland, founded in 1962. It is known for its long-running programmes in ecological design, spiritual practice and community living.

The site includes formal and informal gardens, public talks and a programme of residential courses covering ecology, arts and spirituality. There are also community-run enterprises, walking trails along the shore and indoor spaces used for concerts and lectures.

The foundation grew from a small spiritual community formed by Peter and Eileen Caddy and Dorothy Maclean in the early 1960s and developed into a registered trust that runs educational programmes and community projects. Over subsequent decades the site expanded to include the gardens, community housing projects and facilities for visiting students.

The foundation sits beside the village of Findhorn on the Moray coast in Moray, Scotland, a short drive from the town of Forres and accessible by local roads and nearby rail links.

• Universal Hall: A multiuse performance and meeting venue at the centre of the community used for lectures, concerts and courses and serving as the main indoor gathering space for foundation events.
• Findhorn Ecovillage: A cluster of residential projects, demonstration buildings and small enterprises focused on sustainable living and community governance, developed alongside the foundation and open to visitors on arranged tours.
