How to Get to Fažana#
Fažana is a small coastal town best accessed via Pula Airport or by bus from Pula and other Istrian centres. The town is compact and local buses or short taxis are the quickest ways from Pula or nearby resorts.
Pula Airport (PUY): Fažana on the Istrian coast is best reached via Pula Airport. From PUY it’s a short drive or taxi to Fažana (around 20-30 minutes); local buses also link Pula and Fažana with fares typically a few euros and travel time about 20-30 minutes.
Zagreb / Rijeka airports (alternatives): Zagreb Airport (ZAG) or Rijeka (RJK) can be used depending on flight availability, but they require longer onward travel by car or bus to Istria (several hours from Zagreb). For most travellers to Fažana, Pula is the most convenient airport.
Train: Istria’s rail network is limited and does not serve Fažana directly; the nearest rail facilities are in Pula (limited) or further afield. Trains are less useful for direct access to Fažana compared with buses.
Bus: Buses from Pula and other Istrian towns run frequently to Fažana and are the standard public-transport option. Tickets are inexpensive (a few euros) and journeys from Pula take about 20-30 minutes; check local bus operator schedules during the shoulder seasons.
How to Get Around Fažana#
Fažana is easiest reached via Pula Airport or by bus from Pula; once there, buses, taxis and boats provide the most practical local mobility, while the town itself is very walkable.
- Local bus (HRK 10-30 (~€1.5-4.5)) - Buses connect Fažana with nearby Pula, Rovinj and other Istrian towns. They’re cheap and frequent in summer; check timetables outside peak season as services reduce in frequency.
- Taxi / Water taxi (HRK 50-250 (~€7-35+)) - Taxis from Pula or private water shuttles (seasonal) to nearby islands and coastal points are available. Taxis provide quick door-to-door service; water taxis are popular for short island hops in summer.
- Car / Rental (€30-€80/day) - Renting a car is useful for exploring Istria’s coves, hilltop towns and inland sites. Roads are good and parking in Fažana is usually manageable outside peak summer hours.
