Fayuan Temple is a historic Buddhist temple in Beijing with origins in the Tang dynasty; much of the present complex reflects rebuilding and renovations from later dynasties. It is one of the city’s longstanding monastic institutions and contains traditional temple halls and a collection of religious artifacts.

The temple complex includes the main worship halls, courtyards and ancillary buildings arranged along an axis typical of Chinese temple architecture. It functions as an active religious site while also receiving tourists interested in Beijing’s religious and architectural heritage.

Fayuan Temple (法源寺) in central Beijing is most easily reached by subway: take the Beijing Subway to Caishikou Station (Lines 4 and 7) and then walk about 800 m (roughly 10 minutes) to the temple. Taxis from central Beijing (for example Tiananmen area) are also practical and typically take around 10-20 minutes depending on traffic.

• Visit early on a weekday morning to enjoy the quieter atmosphere and a better chance of hearing morning chanting and ceremonies - Fayuan Temple is generally much less crowded than Beijing's larger temple sites.
• Avoid Chinese national holidays (Golden Week, Lunar New Year) when temples across Beijing see heavy local visitor numbers, and combine a visit with a short walk around the temple grounds rather than treating it like a brief photo stop.
