Falak-ol-Aflak is a historic hilltop castle in Khorramabad, Lorestan province, Iran, whose origins go back to the Sassanid period (3rd-7th centuries). It is one of the best-known landmarks in Lorestan and dominates the city skyline.
Perched on a rocky outcrop in the city centre, the complex includes extensive ramparts, interior chambers and terraces that offer wide views across Khorramabad. The restored interior now houses a public museum with archaeological and ethnographic displays from the region, and visitors commonly walk the ramparts and courtyards.
The site originated as a Sassanid fortress and was rebuilt and reused by successive local and regional authorities over many centuries. In later periods it served administrative and military functions and was adapted and restored in the 19th and 20th centuries before conversion of parts of the interior into a museum.
