Faisalabad Clock Tower

Faisalabad Clock Tower, locally Ghanta Ghar, is a landmark clock tower in the central commercial district of Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. It was completed in 1903 during the British colonial period and serves as the focal point of the historic city plan.

The tower sits at the junction of eight radiating bazaars that form the city’s traditional retail heart; these eight markets extend from the tower in a symmetric pattern and remain active commercial streets. The area around the tower is a dense market district with sari, cloth, and wholesale trade continuing to use the original bazaar layout.

Erected under the British colonial administration and finished in 1903, the clock tower was built as the focal point of the planned town then called Lyallpur. The original market plan and the tower have remained the city’s civic and commercial centre through the 20th century and after Pakistan’s independence.

Located in central Faisalabad in Punjab province, the clock tower stands in the heart of the city’s old market quarter, roughly 120 kilometres west of Lahore. The site is immediately accessible from the city’s main roads and public transport.
